Funky House

What is your USP?

The documentary is about Funky house. Our aim is to try to understand why Funkyhouse music has become so successful and favourable amongst DJ's and Party goers alike.

Our documentary is unique because we will interview a wide range of different individuals who all use funky house for different purposes. Therefore, achieving a more knowledgable explination of how Funky affects different peoples lives. Furtheremore, we will include the history of funky house, expanding on how it has changed.

What Type of Documentary is it?

Ciné-vérité as we will be using hand held cameras to make the audience more involved in the action ( People dancing in clubs) We will at times get involved in the actions for entertainemnt purposes and impressions of certain funky dances.

What documentary inspired you?

We were inspired by the 2008/2009 dunraven media groups documentary 'Dubstep'.

Is it Viable?

Making this documentary is highly feasible as we have access to a lot of the elements which we need to create this documentary. E.g.; DJ's to interview, Music producers, Leicester square, party goers, e.t.c.

What locations will you use?

We intend to film in; Clubs (Vendome, Tiger, Tiger), on the street, Leicester square, funky house clothes shops and DJ mixing studios. We will record outside Trocodero, in Westend, due to this being the spot where groups of teenagers come to use dance machines and hangout. We will also be using the home of a self-emplyed DJ producing tracks for well-known artists. We will interview him infront of his mixing programme.

Who have you approached for interviews?

We have approached various potential interviewees such as; DJ Logicz, Dj Jinglez, friends and family who have varying opinions about funky house, Funky house artist ( Napa Man, Tiny Man). We will interview teenagers who like and dislike funky and to demonstrate dances. We will also inteview a music producer for funky rhythems.

What further research will be required in order to be well informed?

In order to be well informed we will need to research some facts about funky house and research its origins/history.
We will be talking to Mr.schouse, the music teacher who will know alot about the history of funky.
We will produce open-ended questionairres to people in colege and familys.

How will the 5 minute fit into a longer whole?

This five minute extract will fit into a larger documentary as a whole about new musical genres/trends that have become established within the past 5 years, e.g. bashment, autotune, etc.

Who is your target audience?

Our target audience would preliminary be males and females between the ages 15-24 as a large proportion of funky house fans fall between this age range although there are exceptions.

Why would C4 or another channel want to commission this documentary?

C4 would like to commission this documentary due to its USP which as stated earlier on is that it would be the first documentary based on funky house. Also it has become a highly favoured music genre and would have a potential large and vibrant audience.

Is there a global market for your documentary?

There is probably not a global market for 'Funky House' yet as its success at present remains within the UK. However funky house has already made its mark in countries such as Cyprus (aiya napa) and Ibiza and so it could potentially become a globally outstanding music phenomenon.
