Due to the topic of our documentary I was hard to find documentaries that are similar to ours but we did come across one called ‘CRUNK KINGS’ this showed exactly what we were trying to achieve in our documentary. It is about to genres of music ‘rock’ and ‘hip hop’ combined and was then given the name of crunk this exact situation of funky house which is ‘house music’ and funk combined with a mixture of computerized beats and string instruments.
They were basically trying to send the message that crunk is fun dance music that can appeal to all ages and why it will boom and possibly become a global phenomenon. These are the exact messages we are aiming to send out in our documentary.
After watching the documentary scratch we were inspired to use a shot technique that they used whilst interviewing the DJ. They showed a few cutaways of him doing what he does best ‘scratching’ this made the whole interview more interesting and exciting to see him in action but still hearing what he had to say about the topic.
As we are also interviewing a DJ it would make sense to use such an exciting technique.
As a group we decided that cine verite would be the most appropriate technique to use as we are giving the people who have the greatest passion for funky house a chance to tell the viewers why it is so great and how it appeals to everyone also eventually making the audience decide from themselves if they could eventually feel the same way and I believe that us as a group who know a little about funky house, being shown in all the footage would just distract the audience from enjoying the concept of the documentary and being able to understand it coming from the mouth of people who have succeeded in it and the people who enjoy it.
